There are four types of brushed DC motors for different applications. You can choose according to your application.
1. Permanent magnets: This type of DC motor contains permanent magnets and has low torque. Useful for applications that require precise control, such as robotics or servos.
2. Series connection: In this type of DC motor, the stator and the rotor are connected in series, and the speed is controlled by changing the power supply voltage. However, speed control is poor: as soon as the torque increases, the speed drops. Ideal for applications requiring high starting torque, such as automotive power seats or AMTs.
3. Parallel connection: In this type of DC motor, the stator and rotor are connected in parallel, so that higher torque can be obtained without reducing the motor current. For applications with constant speed, such as vacuum cleaners or conveyor belts.
4. Rewinding: This type of DC motor combines the structure of a series motor and a parallel motor. As a result, the starting torque is higher and the speed range is wider. Suitable for rotating machinery, elevators, baggage conveyors, centrifugal pumps and compressors.
