Description

Inner Rotor Brushless DC Motor
This type of BLDC motor has a rotating part (rotor) within a solenoid (stator) assembly. This BLDC motor construction allows heat dissipation by conduction because the stator coils are mounted on the motor housing. Brushless DC motors easily reach peak speeds and are best suited for applications requiring higher speed characteristics.
Outer rotor brushless DC motor
This outer rotor BLDC motor is basically the opposite of the inner rotor brushless motor type. Also known as an outer rotor brushless motor, it uses a rotating housing around fixed internal components. Outer rotor BLDC motors typically use a higher number of permanent magnet poles on the rotor. That means more torque and smoother operation. The main disadvantage of external rotor BLDC motors is their slow speed. Therefore, these types of motors are better suited for low-speed, high-torque applications.
