1. Voltage adjustment of DC motor armature

The main method is to modify the speed of a small DC motor from the rated speed and to reduce the armature voltage from the rated current downward. This method of constant torque speed control is simple, affordable and fast response.

2. Changing the primary flux of the DC motor

The constant power speed control method, with a relatively large time constant of armature current change and slow response time, can be achieved by changing the flux of the DC motor to achieve stepless smooth speed control. However, this method can only attenuate the flux from the rated speed of the miniature DC motor upward.

3. Adjusting the armature circuit resistance

This type of speed regulation is relatively rare, because of the disadvantages of changing the resistance, such as poor smoothness of speed regulation, soft mechanical characteristics, and only stepped speed regulation, etc. It is only used in applications with very low speed regulation requirements.
