What Are The Commonly Used Position Sensors For Brushless Motors?

The position sensor is one of the components of the brushless DC motor system. Its responsibilities include determining the position of the main rotor relative to the stator windings during motion, converting the magnetic field position signal from the permanent magnet rotor into an electrical signal, and providing appropriate logic switching circuits. Let's introduce a position sensor that is often used in brushless motors to provide commutation information.

1. The photoelectric position sensor works according to the basic principle of the photoelectric effect. It consists of a light-emitting tube-photosensitive receiving tube combination installed on the stator and a light-shielding plate rotated by a motor.

2. Magneto-sensitive position sensors are made of semiconductor elements that are sensitive to magnetic fields, such as Hall effect or magnetoresistive effect elements. Magneto-sensitive resistors, magneto-sensitive diodes and Hall elements or Hall integrated circuits are typical magneto-sensitive position sensors.

3. Magnetic Field Position Sensors use electromagnetic effects to measure their position; common types are open transformers and resonant proximity switches.
