1. To avoid fire, an appropriate distance should be maintained between the DC motor and its starting device and combustibles.

2. After maintenance and before starting the motor with power outage for more than 7 days, measure whether its insulation resistance is qualified, so as to prevent the motor from being burned out due to phase-to-phase short circuit or ground breakdown due to insulation damping after official operation.

3. When starting, the specified starting times and starting interval should be strictly implemented, and frequent starting should be avoided as much as possible, so as to avoid overheating and ignition of the stator winding.

4. During operation, the current and voltage should not exceed the allowable range, and the temperature, sound, vibration, and shaft movement of the DC motor should be normal, and there should be no burnt odor.

5. When the motor is running without phase, the power supply should be cut off immediately to prevent the motor from overheating and catching fire due to the overload of the motor.

6. Once the DC motor catches fire, immediately cut off the power supply, and use carbon dioxide, carbon tetrachloride, "1211" fire extinguisher and steam fire extinguisher and other special fire extinguishers for electrical equipment to extinguish the fire.
