How to choose the motor of the intelligent robot?

The joint motion in the robot system requires DC micro-motor control, but in practical applications, it must be controlled by an acceleration and decelerator, so why not directly drive the intelligent robot with a DC micro-motor?

One is torque, and the other is closed-loop precision control. The use of micro-gear motors can easily drive heavy loads. This is an important reason why intelligent robots use geared motors. For example, the reduction ratio of the short gear motor is 50:1, and the output shaft of the reducer is disturbed and transmitted to the end of the motor, which is reduced by 37dB compared with the direct drive, resulting in greater closed-loop accuracy. reducer output shaft. At the same time, the equivalent moment of inertia of the rotor is increased by 2500 times, so the delay link of the control loop is dominated by the rotor inertia, and the rotor is driven by direct electromagnetic force, so there is no delay torque. Controllability is better than direct drive.

In addition to achieving low-speed high-torque characteristics, this may also be due to the use of a DC motor in the robot, which may use a reducer with a higher gear ratio (2-stage transmission or higher). ) The use of geared motors is not perfect, and there are still some shortcomings. Compared with the two, it is more suitable to use geared motors.
The above is the reason why the speed reducer cannot be directly controlled to control the joint movement by directly controlling the speed of the micromotor. Although there are robots driven by direct drive motors, the maturity is still very low. People in the motor industry still need to continue their research, hoping to develop direct drive motors that are more suitable for robots as soon as possible.
