The failure form of micro gear motor gear
Leave a message
Miniature gear motors may suffer damage in the process of use for various reasons, so that the phenomenon of gearmotors losing the ability to work is called failure, and there are various forms of failure of gear motors. Today, we will introduce to you

1. Surface wear of gear reducer motor teeth
When a miniature gear reducer is used for transmission, there is relative frictional sliding between the gear meshing surfaces, causing wear of the gears, which destroys the shape of the gear reducer tooth surface and causes transmission instability. Gear wear also causes the gear teeth to become thinner, making the gear gap larger and the strength of the gear decreasing.
2. Wear of gear reducer tooth surface
When the gears of the miniature gear reducer work, the meshing surface is in constant contact with the extrusion; over time, the tooth surface of the gear reducer will produce small fatigue cracks; with the continuous operation of the miniature gear reducer, the cracks will spread along the tooth surface and form pitting; usually, only large gear reducers will have this failure. Severe tooth surface pitting can damage the surface of the gear teeth, causing transmission instability, noise and reduced gear function.

3. Surface bonding of gear reducer teeth
In closed gear motor transmissions, tooth surface lubrication is more challenging because the meshing surfaces under heavy load can generate localized high temperatures that can lead to bonding. As the gear motor gears continue to run, groove marks will appear. This failure-induced tooth surface bonding and tearing is called tooth surface galling, and it will severely damage the tooth surfaces and lead to gear failure.
4. Fracture of gear motor gears
When the gear reducer is in operation, the bending moment at the tooth root is the largest because the force situation of the gear is equivalent to a cantilever beam. This causes stress concentration, and when the gear is meshed, the bending moment at the gear root alternates and fatigue cracking and tooth fracture are easily produced. This type of failure is known as gear fatigue fracture.
5. Plastic deformation of gears
When working at low speeds and heavy loads, gear tooth surfaces must be able to withstand small amounts of pressure and friction. When these forces are applied, localized plastic flow occurs on the tooth surface of the soft gear material, resulting in unevenness of the tooth surface and damage to the gear tooth profile. This type of failure is known as gear plastic deformation.
