What are the sources of gearbox noise of speed reducer motor?

1. Gear running vibration too fast

The frequency of gear running vibration is too high. During the gear running, the vibration and noise frequency will be affected due to the vibration speed is too fast.

2. Load shock

Here the gear drive is viewed as a vibrating spring system, and the gears naturally become a part of this system. When the gear is subjected to different levels of load, the frequency of vibration and the direction of twisting will be different, and most of them will form a vibration force in the circumferential direction. Together with the gears themselves in dealing with noise, a smooth and non-squealing noise will be formed.

3. Noise generated by resonance

Gear transmission, as the main way of working between production, will naturally produce resonance in operation. The resonance brought about by the gear drive is based on the vibration generated by the rigidity difference between the gear itself and the vibration generated by the friction between the gears on the same vibration frequency, when the two interact with each other, it is easy to produce the resonance situation and the noise brought about by the resonance.

4. Insufficient surface finish of gears

We all know that if two items are smooth, the vibration caused by the friction between them will be minimal and the high frequency wave, vibration frequency and noise level will be small. However, the surface of many gears is too rough, generating a lot of friction when rubbing against each other and high vibration frequency, causing noise.

5. Inadequate lubrication technology

Good lubricants are essential for both gear maintenance and noise reduction because they not only eliminate noise, but also reduce frictional vibrations between gears.

6. Inadequate gear material selection

To some extent, gear drive noise can also be reduced by using more resilient wear-resistant materials rather than harder wear-resistant materials. For example, when using plastic gears, use Wintone Z33, a special engineering plastic for wear-resistant quiet gears, in place of traditional POM. the Z33 material can assist gear drives to run more quietly, while also enhancing wear and fatigue resistance.
