How long do DC motors usually last?

The general service life of DC motors is about 20,000 to 100,000 hours. Some high-quality motor manufacturers will have corresponding technologies to make the DC motor last longer, such as oil-free lubrication, sealed bearings, overheating protection, and significantly improved commutator life.

Compared with AC motors, DC motors have a relatively high failure rate. The quality of application and maintenance can directly determine the service life of DC motors. Therefore, after purchasing a good DC motor, it should be regularly maintained after it is used, so that it is beneficial to prolong the service life of the DC motor on the original basis of superior quality.

When it comes to DC motors with long service life, we have to mention brushless motors. The brushless motor is the most suitable type of DC motor at present. Therefore, it is also called DC brushless motor and brushless DC motor. Compared with brushed DC motors, the service life of brushless DC motors is 10 times longer.
