Talking about the difference between brushless motor and stepper motor
Leave a message
The brushless DC motor is a high-performance motor. Its biggest feature is the external characteristics of the DC motor without the mechanical contact structure composed of brushes. It uses a permanent magnet rotor, without the loss of excitation, and the heating armature. The windings are mounted on the outer stator, which is easy to dissipate heat. Stepper motor is an open-loop control element stepper motor that converts electrical pulse signals into angular displacement or linear displacement. In the case of non-overload, the speed of the motor and the stop position only depend on the frequency and number of pulses of the pulse signal, and are not affected by the load change.

The difference between a DC brushless motor and a stepper motor is:
1. Different definitions: Stepper motor is an open-loop control motor that converts electrical pulse signals into angular displacement or linear displacement, and is the main executive element in modern digital program control systems. A brushless motor is a typical mechatronic product.
2. The composition is different: the stepper motor must be controlled by a double ring pulse signal, power drive circuit, etc. before it can be used. Because the brushless DC motor runs in a self-controlled manner, it will not add a starting winding to the rotor like a synchronous motor with heavy load starting under variable frequency speed regulation, nor will oscillation and loss of step occur when the load suddenly changes.

3. The principle is different: the working principle of the stepper motor is to use the electronic circuit to turn the DC power into a time-sharing power supply, and the multi-phase sequence controls the current. Using this current to power the stepper motor, the stepper motor can work normally, and the driver is A multiphase sequential controller for time-sharing power for stepper motors. The brushless motor uses semiconductor switching devices to achieve electronic commutation, that is, electronic switching devices are used to replace traditional contact commutators and brushes. It has the advantages of high reliability, no commutation sparks, and low mechanical noise, and is widely used.
For now, most places are to give priority to using stepper drivers to match the accuracy requirements. Compared with the brushless motor, the advantages are too obvious, and the stepper motor is better in terms of cost performance.
