What are the structures of micro DC motors?

A motor that can effectively realize the mutual conversion of DC electrical energy and mechanical energy is called a micro DC motor. The stator (the part of the DC motor that doesn't move when it's running) and the rotor make up the basic components of a micro DC motor. So what exactly does a DC motor look like?

1. Main pole
The purpose of the main pole is to generate a magnetic field. It consists of the iron core of the main pole and the excitation winding. Sheets of silicon steel, typically between 0.5 and 1.5 mm thick, are punched and riveted to form the core. The magnetic core of the main magnetic pole is wrapped by an excitation winding composed of insulated copper wires, and the entire main magnetic pole is fixed on the base with screws.
2. Commutator
The purpose of the commutation pole is to change the direction of the DC motor current and reduce the amount of commutation sparks that occur between the commutator and the brushes when the motor is running. Consists of polar windings.

3. Machine base
The frame is the term for the motor stator housing. The main job of the motor frame is to support the entire motor and fix the main magnetic pole, commutation pole and end cover. Its secondary job is to create a magnetic circuit between the poles. The machine base is often welded by steel castings or steel plates to ensure that it has sufficient mechanical strength and good magnetic permeability.

4. Brush device
The brush device is used to introduce or extract the DC voltage and current of the micromotor, and the brush device is composed of a brush, a brush holder, a brush rod and a brush rod seat. The brush is placed in the brush holder and is pressed by the spring, so that there is a good sliding contact between the brush and the commutator. The brush holder is fixed on the brush rod, and the brush rod is mounted on the circular brush rod seat. The brush holder is installed on the bearing end cover or inner cover, the circumferential position is adjustable, and it can be fixed after adjustment.
