What are the Transmission Principles of the Speed Reducer?

The reducer is generally used for low speed and large torque transmission equipment, the motor, internal combustion engine or other high-speed running power, through the input shaft of the reducer of the gear with the large gear on the output shaft to achieve the ratio of the size of the number of the gear, is the transmission ratio.
The reducer is a relatively sophisticated machine, which is used to reduce the speed and increase the torque. There are various types of reducer, different models, different types have different uses. According to gear reducer, worm reducer and planetary gear reducer; single and multiple gear reducer; according to gear shape, conical gear reducer and cylindrical gear reducer; according to the transmission arrangement, shunt and coaxial reducer. In order to facilitate the reasonable selection of reducer, the types, characteristics and applications of several common reducer are listed one by one for reference when selection.
1. Single-stage cylindrical gear gear reducer
Single-stage cylindrical gear reducer is suitable for deceleration ratio of 3~5. Round teeth can be straight, oblique or human teeth, boxes are usually cast iron, or can be welded with steel plate. Rolling bearings, only heavy or special high speed with sliding bearings.
2. Two-stage cylindrical gear reducer
Two-stage cylindrical gear reducer has three types: expansion, shunt and coaxial, suitable for deceleration ratio of 8~40.
Expand type: high speed level long tail oblique teeth, low speed level can be straight teeth or oblique teeth. Due to the asymmetric arrangement of the gear relative to the bearing, the stiffness of the shaft is large, and the torque input and output ends are kept away from the gear, so as to reduce the uneven distribution of load along the tooth width caused by the bending deformation of the shaft. Simple structure, the most widely used.
Shunt type: generally use high-speed level shunt. Because the gear is symmetrical relative to the bearing arrangement, the gear and shaft are more uniform. In order to reduce the total axial force on the shaft, the spiral direction of the two pairs of gears should be opposite. The structure is more complex, often used in high-power, variable load places.
Coaxial type: the axial size of the reducer is larger, the middle axis is longer, and the stiffness is poor. When the oil immersion depth of the two large gears is similar, the bearing capacity of the high-speed gear cannot be fully played. Often used for input and output axis axis sites.
3. Single-stage bevel gear reducer
Single-stage bevel gear reducer is suitable for the reduction ratio of 2~4. The transmission ratio should not be too large, in order to reduce the size of the bevel gear, conducive to processing. Only for transmission with vertical intersection of two axes.
4. Cpered, cylindrical gear reducer
Conical and cylindrical gear reducer is suitable for the reduction ratio of 8~15. The bevel gear shall be arranged at the high speed level to reduce the size of the bevel gear. Tevel gears may be straight or curved teeth. The cylindrical gear is oblique gear, so that it can offset the axial force of the bical gear.
5. Worm-worm gear reducer
There are mainly cylindrical worm reducer, arc torus spiral worm reducer, cone worm reducer and worm-gear reducer, among which cylindrical worm reducer is the most commonly used.
The worm reducer is suitable for a deceleration ratio of 10~80. Compact structure, large transmission ratio, but low transmission efficiency, suitable for low power, gap working occasions. When the circumference velocity of the worm is V 4 ~ 5 m/s, the worm is lower, and the lubrication cooling condition is good; when V 4 ~ 5 m/s, the agitation loss of the oil is large, generally the worm is upper.
6. planet-gear speed reducer
Due to structural reasons, the minimum single stage deceleration is 3, the maximum is generally not more than 10, the common deceleration ratio is: 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 8 / 10, the deceleration stage is generally not more than 3, but some large deceleration has 4 stage deceleration than the customized reducer.
Compared with other reducer, planetary reducer has the characteristics of high rigidity, high precision (single stage can be achieved less than 1 point), high transmission efficiency (single stage in 97% -98%), high torque, volume ratio, lifetime maintenance free and so on. Because of these characteristics, planetary reducer are mostly installed on stepper motor and servo motor to reduce speed, increase torque and match inertia.
