What factors affect DC motor commutation?

The commutation of a DC motor can be easily defined as the change of current in each element from one direction of flow to the other, and the change of current in each element from one direction of flow to the other. The following Vshida micromotor will introduce to you what factors will affect the commutation of the DC motor.

1. During normal use, a brown cuprous oxide film will form on the surface of the motor commutator. A prerequisite for correct commutation of the motor is the presence of a cuprous oxide coating. This is because the cuprous oxide film itself has high resistance, and its surface absorbs a thin layer of water, oxygen and graphite powder, which has a good smoothing effect, which helps to increase the wear of brushes and commutators, prolonging the Motor life.

2. Poor commutation caused by mechanical problems is an important factor in the manufacture of DC motors. There are a number of mechanical reasons for this, including the commutator surface being flat, rough and perpendicular to the motor axis during disassembly; the brushes in the brush box being too loose or too tight; unequal distances causing some brushes to short out parts Commutation elements that are not on the geometric line; commutator appearance is dirty, etc.

3. The commutation element will experience reactive potential as well as commutation potential. The sum of these potentials is generally greater than zero, which is called delayed commutation. When the commutator separates one commutator segment and rotates to another adjacent commutator segment, the commutation current is not zero and the electromagnetic energy is stored in the commutation element. Sparks are created by intelligently breaking down air, releasing electromagnetic energy into the elements.
