What is the relationship between the rotor of the motor and the voltage and current?

The motor is a product that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. The rotor part is not directly energized, the current and voltage of the rotor part are generated by the action of the stator part, and when the stator part is disconnected, the relevant action of the rotor part will disappear.Today, we will tell you about the correlation between voltage and current in the rotor part of the motor.

VBL-3626(3)

For wound rotor motors, the rotor voltage can be measured in the open rotor winding condition, and the magnitude of the open rotor voltage is directly related to the magnitude of the phase voltage in the stator section; for three-phase motors, the different connections correspond to the same phase voltage under delta and star connection conditions, and thus the induced voltage in the rotor is equal and the corresponding current magnitude is the same. The rotor open-circuit voltage is tested by blocking the rotor so that the rotor winding is open-circuited, applying the three-phase rated voltage to the stator, and measuring the voltage value of each phase of the rotor winding from the rotor collector ring.

VBL-3650-(6)

In contrast to wound motors, the rotor part parameters of cage rotor motors cannot be measured directly, but are calculated by correlating the rotor and stator design parameters. A motor of any size has a fixed voltage ratio between stator and rotor, and the voltage delivered to the stator components directly affects the magnitude of the rotor potential. In the case of transformer voltage conversion, the induced potential per phase of the rotor winding and the number of effective turns per phase of the rotor winding, which is the same as the number of effective turns per phase of the stator, are the rotor potential correlations.

VBL-3563-(5)

When the phase voltage applied to the motor changes, the relationship between the rotor potential and the stator voltage is linear and the relationship between the rotor current and the rotor potential is positive. For motors of the same power, that is, when the power conditions are the same, a high rotor potential results in a correspondingly low rotor current.
