DC Motor Shaft Types And Material Applications
Leave a message
The main components of a DC motor include gears, bearings, shaft, armature core, main pole, seat and other parts. The shaft is one of these key components, which also plays a vital role in transmitting torque and generating mechanical power. Today, we will introduce to you the types of rotating shafts and material applications of DC motors

Most of the rotating shafts used as motors are mainly stepped shafts, and according to the structure type, they can be basically divided into three types: solid shafts, shafts with a deep hole at one end and shafts with a central through-hole pair. Solid shafts are most commonly used in motors, shafts with deep holes at one end are mainly used for wound rotor asynchronous motors with the collector ring located on the outside of the end cap, and shafts with a central through-hole are mainly used in large motors.

The shafts of small and medium-sized motors are usually made of No. 45 high-quality carbon structural steel. Shaft materials for small motors may be Q275 carbon structural steel or 35 high quality carbon structural steel. The steel is heated and forged so that the organization of the metal fibers can be evenly dispersed around the surface, resulting in greater mechanical strength. The stepped shape of the forging also reduces the cutting allowance and thus the material used.
